McKay Home Tour
If you've ever wanted to know how to update a stately 1920's home while maintaining its character, then walk with us through this home in South Tampa. The owners moved to Florida from California and fell in love with the beautiful brick streets and suburban feel of the Golf View neighborhood. They took a gamble on an older home with great bones, knowing it would need a complete redo. The couple hired interior designer Maura Kemm to work with their contractor, Soleil. The renovation included putting an addition onto the back of the house and gutting the existing structure.
Maura was involved in every detail, from cabinetry design and paint colors to furniture placement and lighting. In the kitchen, the cabinet door details and mirrored front accents, along with the honed Carrara marble countertops, elevate the all-white kitchen into a unique yet timeless space. She effortlessly layered each room with perfectly scaled furniture, eclectic accessories, patterned wallpaper, and eye-catching drapery. The colonial-style house built almost one-hundred years ago is now updated in all the right places without losing an ounce of its original charm.
